Two Massachusetts credit unions are among those joining with credit unions across the Commonwealth to collect books during the month of April as part of a children's book drive organized by the Cooperative Credit Union Association's Mass. chapter.

Taunton Federal Credit Union (TFCU) and Leominster Credit Union (LCU) will distribute the donated books to local children's organizations within the communities they serve.

Last year, TFCU collected 100 books during its third year participating in the annual statewide drive. The books were generously donated by staff and members and delivered to Girls Inc. in Taunton. This year, books may be dropped off during regular business hours at TFCU's Main Office located at 14 Church Green, Taunton, through Saturday, April 29.

LCU is accepting books at all of its offices through Friday, April 28 and those with questions, can contact Kathy Hurley at 978-466-7242 or khurley@leominstercu.com.

Last year, 36 Mass. credit unions collected and distributed 13,661 children's books to non-profit agencies in cities and communities throughout the Commonwealth. Since 2001, CCUA Mass.-affiliated credit unions have donated more than 295,813 books and this year, the goal is to reach 300,000!
