Credit unions across the country will present a $580,485 donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Sunday, the date of 2 popular, credit union-hosted races. The Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run in Washington, D.C. and the Credit Union SacTown Run in Sacramento, Calif., along with 2 races overseas, make up the Credit Union Family of Races.

The Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run will kick off at 7:30 a.m. (ET) on the grounds of the Washington Monument. The route will take runners around many of the city’s iconic memorials. There will also be a 5K Walk-Run Sunday, and a Kids’ Run Saturday.

More than 1,500 runners are expected at the SacTown Run, which features a 10-mile race, the UC Davis Children’s Hospital Miracle Mile fun run and fitness walk, and a 5K.

This year, participants can run the “Homemade-Half Challenge,” a half-marathon. They can run in both the 5K (in less than 40 minutes) and the 10-miler--which adds up to the equivalent of a half-marathon.

Credit unions became the title sponsor of both races in 2002, and more than $8 million has been raised for CMNHs nationwide since then through a collaboration of more than 100 credit unions and business partners.
