SANTA FE, New Mexico, March 2, 2017—Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU) is honored to once again be the title sponsor for the LEGO Competition at the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association Santa Fe Home Show, taking place March 11-12 at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center. This fun event is an ideal way to help energize attendees—while helping children build an appreciation for the construction process.

The competition is divided into two age categories (8 and younger and 9-12) and will run each day of the Santa Fe Home Show (20 participants each session for a total of 160 potential competitors). Participants are asked to create one structure that is their “vision of the future.” Participants can create anything they can imagine—with terrific awards that include cash as well prizes from the Genoveva Chavez Community Center.

“We are happy to continue our sponsorship with the Santa Fe Home Show. The LEGO Competition has become a family favorite—and year after year youngsters can’t wait to come back and participate,” says DNCU CEO/President Chuck Valenti. Each child will also receive a goodie bag care of DNCU, as well as a day pass to Meow Wolf’s House of Eternal Return. And DNCU’s mascot Baxter Bear will be on site to encourage the LEGO builders.

“It’s never too early to inspire kids about the construction process. We are always thrilled by the results of the contests–the kids are quite elaborate with their constuction and presentation,” says Kim Shanahan, executive officer, SFAHBA.

All children are eligible to participate in the competition; competition spots will be pre-set via a sign-up software system. Flyers with the sign-up link are being sent home in Santa Fe Public School elementary school folders and the link will also be publicized on the dncu.org website. Children’s work will be judged based on originality and presentation.
