Pierre, S.D.  –  Working to advance mental health services and treatment options in the Pierre community, Black Hills Federal Credit Union presented Capital Area Counseling Service, Inc. with a $15,000 donation to benefit their Capital Campaign on Thursday.

BHFCU’s donation to the Capital Campaign will support the construction of a Resource Library in CACS’s proposed, 24,000-square-foot outpatient mental health and addiction treatment facility in Pierre. The new building would provide the nonprofit agency’s clients with convenient, centralized access to a wide range of essential mental health services, currently spread out between various offices and locations.

“With this facility, Capital Area Counseling Service is ensuring the city of Pierre remains a strong, healthy community capable of addressing oftentimes difficult mental health and addiction issues, well into the future,” said Roger Heacock, Black Hills Federal Credit Union President and CEO. “We’re proud to support their efforts to improve lives in our community.”

Capital Area Counseling Services, Inc. provides a variety services, including mental health assessment and therapy, psychiatric rehabilitation, family-based programs and addiction counseling and treatment. In 2015, CACS provided treatment services for nearly 1,600 youth and adults in nine counties in central South Dakota.

Still in the development and fundraising phase, the organization plans to build the new treatment facility on an approximately three-acre lot at the corner of Eastgate Avenue and Marquette Avenue, just down the road from BHFCU’s Pierre location.
