How does a business truly make an impact in the community they serve? For DFCU the answer comes with a ten year, $100,000 partnership with the Dearborn Education Foundation (DEF).
A decade ago the DFCU leadership team decided to make a strong commitment to education in the Dearborn community. A milestone in that commitment was realized when Ms. Theresa Fox, Ms. Caryn Solferino and the rest of the DFCU team presented Dearborn Education Foundation, Executive Director Eddie N. Fakhoury with their annual $10,000 check placing them at the $100,000 level of giving. "It is our hope that others in the community will take notice of our confidence in this school district and that it will spark more of this type of investment with the Dearborn Education Foundation", stated Caryn Solferino, chairperson of the Mardi Gras event and DFCU Financial Branch Manager. The Foundation was identified as DFCUs premier partner because they wanted to ensure that their investment went directly to impact teachers and students. Over the years the partnership has help to fund projects and materials needed to enhance student learning. DFCU Financial has not only invested funds, but also provides volunteers and its members serve on the Education Foundation Board. The Dearborn Public Schools Education Foundation (DPSEF) is a licensed 501c3 nonprofit that provides grants to fund technology, equipment, and innovative programs for Dearborn Public Schools. DPSEF over the years has provided over $1,500,000 in funding back to the school district.
