(OGDEN, UT – February 9, 2017) – More than 150 people will be helped this year with home repairs, remodeling and new home construction thanks in part to a donation from the Security Service Charitable Foundation to the Weber/Davis affiliate of Habitat for Humanity.
The organization helps families in Weber and Davis counties through a variety of programs, some of which rely on others donating building materials and items such as old kitchen cabinets. The $3,000 donation from the charitable foundation will allow Habitat for Humanity to purchase a large box truck to be used for picking up those donated items.
“Habitat for Humanity works to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live,” said Jeannie M. Gamble, executive director, Habitat for Humanity Weber and Davis Counties. “We bring people together to build homes, communities and hope, and are thankful to Security Service’s commitment to our community.”
The addition of a large box truck will allow the organization to increase the number of donation pick-ups per day, ultimately helping more families in the community.
“Making a difference in the lives of others is what we strive to do,” explained Greg Reed, senior vice president of member service - Mountain West Region, for Security Service. “When everyone contributes, the community grows stronger by helping improve the lives of our neighbors in need.”
Last year, the Weber/Davis affiliate of Habitat for Humanity helped 67 people repair and remodel their homes, including those damaged by the recent tornado in the fall of 2016. This year, they hope to serve more of the community, including three new homes: two benefiting single mothers and one for a Veteran.
