(SAN ANTONIO, TX – February 6, 2017) – For 23 years, volunteers with Rebuilding Together San Antonio have provided home repairs and renovations at no cost to low-income, elderly, and disabled homeowners in the San Antonio area.  Now, thanks to a $10,000 donation from the Security Service Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation, more families will be given the additional support they need to ensure their homes are safe, secure, and comfortable.

“An estimated 2,000 low-income homeowners were left with severe roof damage caused by the 2016 hail storms,” said Kent Gerstner, executive director of Rebuilding Together San Antonio.  “The donation from Security Service will enable us to repair ten to twelve of those damaged roofs, offering much needed protection from the elements.”

In addition, Rebuilding Together now has a year-round minor repair program and a Heroes at Home program to benefit veterans.

“We have witnessed first-hand the dedication this program has to helping people within our community,” said Brandy Ralston-Lint, senior vice president of Corporate Communications for Security Service.  “We are proud to support an organization committed to providing a safe and secure home for those in need.”

Since 1994, Rebuilding Together San Antonio, a local chapter of the national Rebuilding Together organization, has provided more than $2.5 million in repairs and rehabilitation to more than 475 homes, thanks to 13,500 volunteers and more than 44,000 volunteer hours.
