(Riverside, Calif.) Jan. 31, 2017 – Altura Credit Union and its employees embraced the Salvation Army’s annual “Angel Tree” program this holiday season to help families who wouldn’t otherwise have the resources to celebrate Christmas. Employees donated gifts for 70 local children, and assisted the Salvation Army in sorting thousands of donated items for distribution in time for Christmas. Altura’s Commercial Real Estate Department “adopted” a family for the season. And, finally, Altura provided space at its Moreno Valley branch on Cactus Avenue for the Salvation Army store, sort and set up distribution of the donations.

Companies, families and other groups who wish to participate receive Angel Tree tags that include specific Christmas wishes. Often companies place the tags on a Christmas Tree at their location so employees can select a tag and purchase that item. The Salvation Army handles distribution to 425 families and 1,000 children in the Inland Empire.

“These donations can really make the difference for families between having a happy holiday and a sad one,” said Tina Covington, Altura vice president of Sales & Business Development. “Our employees generously opened their hearts to share the holiday spirit with those in need.”

Celebrating its 60th anniversary in the Inland Empire in 2017, Altura Credit Union today serves 117,000 Members, has $1.22 billion in total assets and operates 13 branch offices in Riverside County.  Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Riverside and San Diego counties; selected cities in San Bernardino and Orange counties; as well as U.S. Military, U.S. Government and Civilian employees working at March Air Reserve Base in Riverside County; and retirees of the United States Armed Forces.
