High School Students Are Learning What It Takes to Save Lives

Thanks to Quincy Credit Union of Quincy, Mass., some Braintree High School students are taking advantage of a hands-on, interactive learning opportunity that will put them on a path to pursuing careers in health care or public safety.

Throughout the year-long course provided by Massasoit Community College, the students will receive certifications in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, CPR, Narcan distribution, first aid, and as first responders.

The course features field trips to South Shore Hospital and Massasoit's Emergency Medical Services Educational Suite in Middleboro.

To showcase the skills the students have learned so far, South Shore Hospital's Mobile Lab recently visited the high school, where students enrolled in the program confidently demonstrated the life-saving skills they've learned and continue to practice.

"Quincy Credit Union is happy to be at the forefront of this new and innovative class," said Lauren Pedretti, the credit union's community outreach/financial literacy specialist, adding that, "It is truly inspiring to see the students find confidence through practice and participation and make strides towards a successful future in the public service industry."
