For their Presidents Day In-Service event, staff members at Dow Chemical Employees Credit Union of Midland, MIcollected more than $4,000 in food, household items and personal care items to donate to four local community organizations:
  • The Open Door of Midland, which operates crisis shelters for men and women and a soup kitchen near downtown Midland
  • Ten Sixteen Recovery Network of Midland, which works with the community to treat and prevent alcohol dependency through residential care, education and prevention services, counseling, and recovery support
  • Good Samaritan Rescue Mission of Bay City a division of the City Rescue Mission of Saginaw which provides emergency assistance, including clothing, shelter, referrals to local agencies, counseling and life skills classes
  • East Side Soup Kitchen of Saginaw, which provides lunchtime meals to anyone in need and after-school meals to children at local recreation centers
DCECU staff members donated goods from each organizations wish list as part of the credit unions annual Presidents Day In-Service on February 18. The donations included items ranging from coffee to kitchen utensils to blankets and pillows. "Regularly, our staff members generously give back to the community through staff events and fundraisers," said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson. "It is a pleasure to come together in support of organizations that truly help those in need in our community. We are happy to aid in the efforts of groups like The Open Door, Ten Sixteen Recovery Network, Good Samaritan Rescue Mission and East Side Soup Kitchen." During the in-service, the representatives from each community organization came to the credit union to receive the donations, and Hanson thanked them for the ongoing services that they provide to the local Great Lakes Bay region communities.
