Connex Credit Union Collects $1,300 for Wags 4 Hope

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (Jan. 24, 2017) – Contributions from visitors to Connex Credit Union’s North Haven branch during the final quarter of 2016 were recently tallied and donated to a local non-profit. As a part of its philanthropic initiative, ConnexCares, Connex Credit Union’s Coins-for-Change program collected more than $1,300 for Wags 4 Hope.
The Coins-for-Change program charges a five percent fee to members, and a seven percent fee to non-members, to use Connex’s coin-cashing machines. Each fiscal quarter, this money is donated to different charitable organizations in the local community, contributing more than $10,000 annually. “The support we received through this program has been such a wonderful surprise and I am truly thankful to everyone who took the time to contribute,” said Annie Blumenfeld, founder, Wags 4 Hope. “These funds will benefit shelter and rescue animals in need, and help them find their forever home.”
Wags 4 Hope is devoted to raising awareness of heartworm disease, supporting the medical needs of shelter animals and encouraging responsible pet ownership. This contribution will fund heartworm treatment and other medical procedures necessary to ensure these animals can be happy and healthy again.
