Black Hills FCU Employees Donate To Local Organizations
Rapid City, S.D. (01/11/17) – Working to make a difference in their community, Black Hills Federal Credit Union employees donated $2,000 and various supplies to the Humane Society of the Black Hills after an animal seizure put significant strain on the shelter’s resources this December.
The donation will help the organization provide essential food, bedding and care for the 118 animals, including 88 dogs, 14 rabbits, 15 cats and one bird, seized by the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, while the animals’ futures are being determined in court.
“It’s inspiring to witness the compassion and generosity of our employees and the community, who rallied to support this great organization” said Renee Shroyer, chair of BHFCU’s Community Action Team project for the Humane Society of the Black Hills. “We’re proud to be able to help the Humane Society turn this situation into a positive story for the animals.”
Additionally, employees donated 75 toys and $330 to the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, over $600 worth of toiletries and small gifts to the South Dakota State Veterans Home and $675 to Rapid City Court Appointed Special Advocates. This January, BHFCU’s employees are participating in a Community Action Team project to benefit the Community Reward Fund and the Regional Cancer Care Institute.
With support from its members, BHFCU’s employee-led Community Action Team contributes and volunteers with more than 50 local, charitable organizations throughout the year.
