Shredding Documents and Ensuring Member Security
October 30, 2015
We did it. We defied the weather forecasters this past Saturday at our last Document Shredding Event for 2015. Weather was not as predicted. Sunny and working its way up from a low of 33 degrees to 55 degrees. Weather remained cloudy and cool with no rain and lots of documents. Lots being 21,280 pounds. Last year at this time we shredded 20,740 pounds.
If this 21,280 pounds (10.64 tons) was paper money (and I understand that approximately 454 $100 bills make a pound) we shredded the equivalent of 9.66 million dollars (with $100.00 bills). Rather than showing up in the landfill, all this paper will be converted to something useful, most likely paper towels and toilet tissue.

This event would not have been a success without the 28 staff members who volunteered their time, Confidata (our document shredding partner) and the local Sheriffs Deputies who provided traffic control.
