ST. PAUL, MINN. (June 11, 2014) Minneapolis has been climbing the rankings as one of the top bicycle communities in the nation, and Affinity Plus wants to make sure its adapting to serve these two-wheeled commuters.
On Saturday, June 14, the Affinity Plus branch located in Minneapolis on University Avenue is opening a bike thru lane to accommodate its bicycle riding members and will be using signage to help bikers and drivers identify the lane. The branch will be celebrating the opening of the bike thru by giving away one $450 gift certificate toward the purchase of a new bike and handing out helmet reflector stickers.
The busiest biking intersection in Minneapolis is just over a mile away from our branch, so we experience a lot of bike traffic in our community, states Amber Shanley, branch manager. The bike thru lane is designed to accommodate these commuters so that they can quickly and conveniently do their banking without having to park and lock up their bikes. According to the City of Minneapolis website, the busiest on-street location is SE 15th Avenue north of SE University Avenue.
The bike thru lane will share the same hours of operation as the drive thru at the branch which are Monday Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Motorists are still welcome to drive through the bike thru lane.
