ST. PAUL, Minn. �� Keenly focused on financial education and professional development initiatives, the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation is an organization dedicated to providing the resources for credit unions and communities to prosper and thrive. Each year the Foundation commits over 50 percent of its budget to fund financial education grants that positively impact credit union members and communities. Another 25 percent of grants fund professional development opportunities for credit union staff and volunteers to continue their education and sustain the credit union movement.

Foundation Donations in Action

In 2014, the Foundation funded $15,000 in financial education grants for innovative projects that show credit union value, community impact, collaboration and creativity:

�?� � � � � � � � Prepare + Prosper partnered with US Federal Credit Union to establish a financial coaching program to increase the financial capability of low-income Minnesotans through education and introduction to and use of credit union products and services.

�?� � � � � � � � Catholic United Financial Credit Union received grant funding to continue its senior-focused identity theft awareness seminars offered at churches around the state.

�?� � � � � � � � Foundation funding assisted Collegeville Community Credit Union to establish a student-run branch on the campus of Saint John��s University.

�?� � � � � � � � Ideal Credit Union utilized Foundation grant funding to provide incentives to students who successfully completed its peer-to-peer financial education seminar series.

�?� � � � � � � � Anoka Hennepin Credit Union will use a Foundation financial education grant to create a free youth checking account with financial education ties to help prepare participants for college.

�?� � � � � � � � Cook Area Credit Union will expand financial education efforts in northern Minnesota by establishing a student-run credit union at a second Kindergarten-Grade 12 school.
