United Federal Credit Union of St. Joseph, MIwas awarded the "Live United Award" from the United Way of Southwest Michigan during its annual award banquet on February 21. The award goes to the company that best exemplifies the "Live United" theme.
"On behalf of the entire United Team, we are flattered and honored to receive this award," said United Federal Credit Union President/CEO Gary Easterling. "Our employees are always willing to help out when United Way is involved, whether its giving their time to an event or donating money to the organization, because they see the results that United Way produces in our community."
UFCU employees donated more than $43,500 during the latest United Way campaign. This result was a combination of employee donations, an employer match, donations from the UFCU Political Action Committee, raffles, and a donation from the UFCU Employee Charity Committee. UFCU also granted an additional $25,000 over three years to United Way, which will be used to match new gifts from employees at targeted companies that currently have less than 50% employee participation.
UFCU employees also gave their time to United Way events and programs including the Senior Day of Action, Student Literacy, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Girls on the Run, and by serving on United Way Committees and Boards.
