Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU) recently presented a check for $35,000 to the University of Nevada Wolf Pack Marching Band, which included a $15,000 gift-matching donation and a gift of $20,000 from the credit union.

GNCU's Its Time to Support the Band fundraising campaign launched in 2012 with a pledge of three annual $20,000 gifts, as well as a three-year matching-gift program through which GNCU would match funds raised of up to $15,000 annually. As a result of the joint fundraising efforts between Greater Nevada and the University, nearly $60,000 was raised during the second year of their fundraising campaign.

Our partnership with GNCU has been essential in achieving much of the progress we have seen over the past two years including, increases in membership, additional student scholarships, travel, new uniforms, new drums, and additional teaching staff, said Director of Marching/Athletic Bands, William Plenk, D.M.A. Each of these things are major contributors to the growth and success of the band, and would not be possible without GNCU.

Greater Nevada, headquartered in Carson City, is a not-for-profit financial cooperative that has been serving northern Nevada consumers since 1949. The credit union has more than 45,000 members and eight full-service branches. For more information about Greater Nevada, please visit gncu.org.
