We are a member-owned, not-for-profit community credit union. That means profits are paid back to you with higher savings rates and lower loan rates.
In October, credit unions in the Greater Knoxville area collaborated on a joint credit union awareness campaign. The campaign was an opportunity for over 25 credit unions to stand together and reaffirm their commitment to the over 530,000 members in the greater Knoxville area who they have collectively served for almost 80 years.
The recent threat of a government shutdown was felt by all members of the East Tennessee community. With our proximity to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Y-12 National Security Complex, a possible shutdown was a period of uncertainty for many of our friends, families, and neighbors. In the spirit of Uniting for Good, members of the Knoxville Chapter of Credit Unions wanted the community to know that during times of uncertainty, their members and their families their number one concern.
Under the Knoxville Chapter of Credit Unions name, the joint credit union awareness campaign kicked-off on October 14th with a radio spot highlighting the credit union difference and directing consumers to www.asmarterchoice.org to find a credit union that could show them the advantage of membership. The radio spot was targeted to reach over 56% of the 18+ Knoxville DMA and ran through Sunday, October 27th.
In combination with the radio spot, a series of newsprint ads also ran. The objective was to let the half-million plus credit union members know that their credit union was open and ready to answer financial questions or provide assistance. The newsprint ad sent a strong message through the trade area and displayed the logos for the 25 participating credit unions.
The credit unions in the Greater Knoxville area know what makes credit unions unique and special and the joint awareness campaign exemplifies CUNAs Unite for Good mission.
