Heritage Federal Credit Union, in support of Samaritan's Feet, held a special event on Tuesday, August 20th, 2013 in an effort to raise awareness and dollars to provide shoes to children and young adults who need the assistance.
Employees of Heritage Federal Credit Union, that participated in the event, gave a $15.00 donation and were allowed to wear jeans, their Don't Tax My Credit Union T-Shirts, and ANY shoes they preferred. Employees were also encouraged to wear their choice of shoes �� cowboy boots, flip flops, tennis shoes, sandals, work boots, UGGS, etc. Ruth Jenkins, CCE, President and Chief Executive Officer of Heritage Federal Credit Union states, \This cooperative effort of Samaritan's Feet and Heritage Federal Credit Union is to raise awareness and dollars to provide shoes to the nearly 300 million people who go without shoes each day. The willingness of our employees to give a $15.00 donation to support the work of Samaritan's Feet exemplifies the Credit Union's People Helping People philosophy.\"
The event was covered by WFIE14 news on location at the Heritage Federal Credit Union Headquarters and was featured on their 6pm news. There was a high level of participation from the Heritage Federal Credit Union employees and members with over $525 being raised (one of the highest \"jeans days\" on record and the equivalent of 35 pairs of shoes) for this worthy cause.
The proceeds will go to the Samaritan's Feet Midwest Regional Office in Indianapolis
