The Black Hills Childrens Home in Rockerville needs Christmas gifts for each of their 63 children who are living under their care. Can you be a childs Santa Claus and make sure that each child wakes up Christmas morning to a gift? A special holiday event, "Highmark Giving Tree", kicks off on Monday, November 19, to collect much needed Christmas gifts for children at the Black Hills Childrens Home. The public is invited to join the credit union for holiday treats and carols sung by 7th and 8th graders from East Middle School. Stop by between1:45 and 2:45 at Highmark FCUs main office located at 725 5th Street in Rapid City to listen to the voices of this young choir. While youre there, please pick up an ornament with a childs name and wish list attached to it. Return the purchased gift, unwrapped, with the childs name on it, no later than December 17. You get to keep the ornament as your keepsake for being that childs Santa Claus. Its that easy! The Childrens Home Society helps the lives of more than 2,000 children annually in South Dakota. Most of the children are victims of severe physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. "During this beautiful season, most of us give thanks for our homes and family", explains Ella Shafer, Black Hills Childrens Home Development Officer. "Although a loving, forever family is likely the number one wish of each of these children, your gift will provide them with Christmas joy and memories." For the 3rd year, Highmark Federal Credit Union is partnering with the Black Hills Childrens Home as a convenient location to pick-up your ornament and drop off your Santas gift. "We are so pleased to be able to help the Black Hills Childrens Home. We have a heartfelt desire to ensure each one of these special children receives a gift on Christmas morning" explained Highmark President, John A. Carlson. "This is a great opportunity for anyone to make a difference in the life of a child." Please contact Theresa Schreiner, Development Coordinator, Black Hills Childrens Home at 343-2811, ext. 17, or Dawn Laskowski at Highmark FCU at 716-4444 for additional information, regarding the Highmark Giving Tree.
