Northland Area Federal Credit Union Supports Local VFW
October 18, 2016
On Wednesday, Oct. 12th Northland Area Federal Credit Union hosted the Gaylord Chamber of Commerce Business after Hours event. Despite the rain 125 chamber members and guests came together at the beautiful Otsego Club to socialize and support an important cause.
NAFCU was especially honored to have the Gaylord VFW there. That night, the VFW sponsored a silent auction to raise money to build a new Veterans building. The new building will replace the old VFW hall which had to be demolished because if was no longer safe. Where the old hall had difficult stairways, the new hall will be built to accommodate those whove come home from service with disabilities.
Twenty-six Gaylord area businesses donated the items that were auctioned to benefit this important cause. Together, the proceeds from the silent auction along with 50/50 raffle ticket sales and individual donations totaled more than $2,100.00 for the Raise the Roof Fund.
Pictured here is Judy McKinley, Gaylord Branch Manager handing Ron Le Bourdais, Commander Gaylord VFW a donation from NAFCU.
We want to say; thank you to all the veterans who have served our country and thank you to the people of Gaylord. We are grateful to be part of such a great community.
