Dakota Credit Unions Support Project Ignite Light
October 5, 2016
Fargo, ND - Credit union professionals from around the Dakotas gathered in Fargo this week for the annual Credit Union Association of the Dakotas (CUAD) New Ideas Conference. This year, the conference is centered on the theme "Dakotas Giving Back", and conference attendees worked together to assemble 25 fleece blankets for Project Ignite Light.
Project Ignite Light is an organization, based out of North Dakota, through which children are provided important items needed when they are examined by their local advocacy center or hospital for physical abuse, sexual abuse or neglect. Every blanket that is cut and tied is more than a cute print or snugly throw. These blankets will go to children who have been hurt by someone they trusted. These blankets provide a piece of comfort for a child.
In addition to making these blankets, conference attendees this week raised $730 for the WDAY Honor Flight, and raised nearly $4,000 for the Credit Union Foundation of the Dakotas, which supports financial literacy and childrens charities in the Dakotas. Credit unions are proud to give back to their communities each and every day.
Headquartered in Bismarck, ND, the Credit Union Association of the Dakotas (CUAD) is the professional financial trade association serving 79 credit unions in North and South Dakota with assets in excess of $6.2 billion and serving over 469,000 credit union members. With the mission to help credit unions succeed, CUAD plays a key role in credit unions growing membership, strengthening their charter and providing excellence to members.
