Lowell, MA, October 4, 2016 Align Credit Union was pleased to again sponsor the Merrimack Valley Food Banks Pantry Raid, a neighborhood food drive. Volunteers distributed empty brown grocery bags to homes on designated routes in Greater Lowell starting September 17
th.� On September 24
th, volunteers returned to their routes and picked up bags that were filled with donations and delivered them to the Food Bank. In the spring and fall of 2015, over 200 event volunteers collected over 25,000 pounds of non-perishable food items.
"The Food Bank has enjoyed a valuable partnership with Align Credit Union leadership and staff since 2003," said Merrimack Valley Food Bank Executive Director, Amy Pessia.� "Thanks to the team at Align, were able to provide relief to children, seniors, veterans and working families in the form of nutritious food."

About the Merrimack Valley Food Bank
The Merrimack Valley Food Bank has been transporting, storing and distributing food to people in Greater Lowell since 1991. They were founded as a program of the Middlesex Shelter in Lowell (now known as the Lowell Transition Living Center) in response to the increased need for emergency food in the community. They have grown from serving six agencies in a donated store front space and a rented truck to serving 131 agencies in 47 cities and towns in Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire from their own 20,000 square foot facility. Through their network of member agencies, they serve over 70,000 people per month.
