Credit Union Awarding $97,000 in Scholarships and Educational Grants

Recognizing the importance of education as a lifelong experience, the Board of Directors of Peach State Federal Credit Union is proud to announce that the credit union will award 16 $2,000 Career Advancement Scholarships in May 2013. The scholarships honor the founders of Peach State and will be awarded to eligible members of the credit union. Applications are available on their Web site (www.peachstatefcu.org) and at all 13 branch locations.
The credit union is also offering Legacy Student Scholarships, given to honor the legacy of past and present Board members and employees who have served Peach State for 20 years or more. These nine $2,500 scholarships will be awarded in May 2013 to high school seniors who will be attending college to pursue a degree in education and plan to return to Georgia to teach.
Peach State also honors the lifetime achievements of the individuals listed below by funding a $2,500 Legacy Student Scholarship in their honor at each of the school systems. The recipients of these honorary scholarships will be chosen by the school systems.
- Anderson Byers, retired Superintendent of the Jackson County School System
- Dan Cromer, retired Barrow County School System Superintendent and former Peach State Board member
- Dr. John Jackson, retired Superintendent of the Oconee County School System
- Louise Radloff, member of the Gwinnett County Board of Education since 1973
- J. Alvin Wilbanks, CEO and Superintendent of the Gwinnett County School System
