Affinity Federal Credit Union Awarding More Than $20,000 to Local Organizations

Basking Ridge, N.J. (September 19, 2016) Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Affinity Federal Credit Union, announced today the approved support from its Grant Committee for the following grassroots charity organizations:
- $7,500 for Community Hope to support its programs for homeless veterans. The Hope for Veterans program operates the largest and most comprehensive program for homeless veterans in New Jersey, including supported transitional and permanent housing, case management, job training, and recovery services.
- $2,500 to Enactus at Raritan Valley Community College to support their Bread of Life Program. The program helps families in Somerset County obtain much-needed packaged or canned food items and fresh produce, and supports a 22,000 square-foot garden for families to grow their own produce.
- $1,500 for the Jewish Relief Agency in Morristown, NJ, to support its Food Distribution program. The Jewish Relief Agency delivers monthly food packages to disadvantaged families, and feeds more than 3,200 families annually.
- $2,500 to Lunch Break, located in Red Bank. Lunch Break operates a soup kitchen, client choice pantry, monthly "dinner and movie" nights for children at the Boys & Girls Club, Saturday Breakfast and a community garden. Together, these efforts provide nearly 100,000 meals to residents of Monmouth County.
- $5,000 for the New Jersey Travel Independence Program (NJTIP) at Rutgers Universitys Senior Mobility Program in Bergen County to give the elderly the confidence to use public transportation to travel to work, school, appointments, and visit family on their own. NJTIP increases the independence and self-sufficiency of people with disabilities and older adults by empowering them to use the public transit system safely and independently.
- $2,500 to the Summit Area YMCA to provide free memberships to homeless families staying at Family Promise, allowing them to utilize the YMCAs resources.
