MOINE, IL (August 24, 2016) Vibrant CU teamed up with local businesses to raise $10,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley.
Participants of the Diamond Dash, also known as diamond dashers, raced through downtown Moline completing a scavenger hunt in hopes of winning their chunk of the $40,000 in prizes. Local businesses, like Vibrant, acted as the scavenger hunt stops, with fun tasks or trivia to complete in order to get the next clue.
Its all made possible by Neckers Jewelers, the organizer of the event. Neckers creates an app that all diamond dashers download to guide them through the event. At the starting line the app instructs teams, groups of two, on where to go with helpful hints like "Head South on 34th Street to Riverside Park. Would you mind watering the plants near this
Center sign while youre there?" After reading a clue like that dashers would run south towards the Garden Center.
At the Garden Center the teams find Vibrant CU and their their one of a kind Volkswagen Ice Cream Truck. Once there they complete a task in order to get the correct answer for that stop. At each stop once the task is completed, or trivia question answered, the diamond dashers get the correct letter to input into the app and go on to the next clue location.
At Vibrants stop Diamond Dasher teams ate an ice cream sandwich and got a bag in the hole in a game of bags. After all stops are completed and answers submitted, the last clue leads teams back to the starting point where they wait to see if they won one of the top 15 prizes. Winners are determined by most answers correct in the least amount of time.
Vibrant is no stranger to community events. The credit union regularly takes the ice cream truck to local non profits, fundraisers, local businesses, ribbon cuttings, or even just a local park. After all, who doesnt love ice cream?
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley have a waiting list of kids and adults who would like to get involved in the program. One hundred percent of the funds raised by Vibrant Credit Union and other local businesses during the Diamond Dash will go towards Big Brothers Big Sisters in hopes that those on the waiting list can get paired up and started in the program.
