MERIDEN, Conn. (August 17, 2016) Contributions from visitors at Connex Credit Unions Meriden Branch during the second quarter of 2016 have helped make a significant impact for one local community group. As a part of its philanthropic program ConnexCares, Connex Credit Union recently donated more than $700, from the fees collected by Connexs coin-cashing machine at their Meriden branch, to Spanish Community of Wallingford. The Coins-for-Change program charges a five percent fee to members, a seven percent fee to non-members and donates the fees collected to charitable organizations in the local community, contributing more than $10,000 annually.
"We are thrilled to have been selected as a recipient of the proceeds from the Coins-for-Change program," said Maria Harlow, executive director, Spanish Community of Wallingford. "We would like to extend a big gracias to Connex Credit Union and all the members of the community that helped raise this money! These funds will be used to provide scholarships to students in need who want to participate in our music program."
