SPIRE Credit Union Employees Support Aquatennial

1Falcon Heights, MN - Jim Ganger, Vice President of Member and Partner Development for SPIRE Credit Union, was appointed the 2016-2017 Minneapolis Aquatennial Captain at the festival"s annual coronation event held Saturday, July 23.� Jim will serve along with SPIRE President and CEO, Dan Stoltz, the 2016-2017 Minneapolis Aquatennial Commodore. Jim is deeply committed to community, having previously served as a United States Air Force Airman, during which he was awarded the prestigious honor of Superior Performer by the Inspector General United States Air Force. "As Aquatennial Captain, I look forward to being involved with the various communities thought Minnesota, the United States and Canada," says Ganger, "The Aquatennial Organization supports and upholds my personal values of leadership, service and giving back." The Minneapolis Aquatennial was created in 1940 by a group of civic-conscious Minneapolis businesses leaders who were inspired by a Canadian celebratory festival they attended in Winnipeg.� After witnessing the droves of people who turned out, they embarked upon the creation of an event to promote the city of Minneapolis and the Upper Midwest.� Each summer since 1940, The Aquatennial Commodore, Captains and Ambassadors serve communities throughout Minnesota, the United States and Canada by attending over 250 festivals in a yearlong commitment.� Additionally, every year remarkable young women representing over fifty community festivals throughout Minnesota compete for the opportunity to serve as Minneapolis Aquatennial Ambassadors.� Three young women are selected for their leadership skills, and given scholarship opportunities.� The culmination of their efforts is the four-day Minneapolis Aquatennial proclaimed, "The Best Days of Summer!"   "I am very excited for Jim to serve as my Aquatennial Captain," says Dan Stoltz, President and CEO of SPIRE, and the 2016-2017 Aquatennial Commodore.� "He will continue to bring great value and leadership to the Aquatennial Ambassadors Organization."
