Prairie Federal Credit Union Supports Dream Catcher's Baseball
August 24, 2016
Prairie Federal Credit Union has been running a summer promotion this year called "Hit a Financial Home Run". Keeping with the baseball theme, the credit union is holding a fundraiser for the local Dream Catcher"s baseball team and have raised over $200 for this cause! Members can purchase a paper baseball for a $1 donation, which is then posted in the credit union lobby with all proceeds going to the Dream Cather"s organization.
The Dream Catcher's Baseball League was founded in 2003 for children from kindergarten age through grade 12 with moderate to severe physical disabilities. The league is specifically designed for children who choose not to participate in the summer recreational program due to safety concerns or the child's physical needs such as braces, walkers or wheelchairs. Each game consists of two innings in which every child bats, runs the bases and scores. The last batter runs the bases to score a home run. No team score is kept so everyone wins!
Each Dream Catcher player has a "buddy" to help them out with playing the game, whether it be fielding, batting or running the bases, as the players' safety is first priority. Employees of Prairie Federal donated their time on Thursday, August 4th to be a buddies for the final Dream Catcher"s game. The photos shown are from that event, and the credit union"s baseball wall. "This was a very fun and rewarding evening, and something that we hope to do again next year," said Beth Nelson, Marketing Director for Prairie FCU.
