CaptureEAST LANSING, Mich. MSUFCU is proud to announce that after a six-month fundraising campaign, Credit Union employees donated $79,372 to Small Talk Children"s Assessment Center (Small Talk), benefiting local children who are victims of physical and sexual abuse. In addition to raising funds from January to June, employees raised their hands against child abuse by supporting Small Talk"s renovation efforts at its new facility. Credit Union employees created artwork, helped design the organization"s group therapy room, and attended the facility"s grand opening in April. Small Talk is a place where children who are victims of physical and sexual abuse are interviewed and offered therapy at no cost. The mission of Small Talk is to provide a comfortable, child-friendly atmosphere where children receive coordinated services during the child abuse investigative process. Small Talk, accredited with the National Children"s Alliance, is leading the community in addressing child abuse and empowering children to have the courage to heal. "When I think of this cause and the contributions Credit Union employees have made, I think of a renewed sense of hope and resiliency in all of us and the children we serve," said Annie Harrison, Board President of Small Talk. "I think of the children who have benefited from our services and who feel safe and comfortable in our new group therapy room. When we began Small Talk, we hoped to help one child. Together with the help from MSUFCU, we can now help an entire community." "The Small Talk program resonates with not only myself, but with many of our team members here at the Credit Union because the work that they do for our community connects to our Credit Union"s goals and mission," said April Clobes, MSUFCU"s President and Chief Executive Officer. "When children have support and access to the types of services needed to heal and feel empowered to move forward, it strengthens our entire community." MSU Federal Credit Union, the world"s largest university-based credit union, offers a full range of personal and business-related financial services to Michigan State University and Oakland University faculty, staff, students, alumni association members, and their families worldwide in addition to a variety of select employee groups. Founded in 1937 by a few MSU professors and employees, MSUFCU has 17 branches, over 220,000 members, more than $3.25 billion in assets, and over 700 employees.
