TAMPA, FL (July 29, 2016) Suncoast Credit Union announced a pledge of $50,000 to America"s Credit Union Museum"s Legacy Campaign. This $3.3 million capital campaign focuses on expanding and renovating the Museum and turning an adjacent building into a credit union industry research library.
"Suncoast is excited to be an active member in the renovation and expansion of America"s Credit Union Museum," states Tom Dorety, CEO of Suncoast Credit Union. "As the birthplace of credit unions in the United States, the Museum in Manchester, New Hampshire is the perfect place to educate and celebrate the colorful history of credit unions in this country while honoring those who laid the foundation on which our movement was built. To know that this gift has placed the Museum"s Legacy Campaign within reach of its $3.3-million-dollar capital campaign goal, puts us in very good company with many others who have contributed to this worthy effort."
"I would like to thank Tom Dorety and the leadership at Suncoast Credit Union for their support of the Museum," remarked Stephanie Smith, Executive Director of America"s Credit Union Museum. "Suncoast Credit Union joins other campaign supporters in recognizing the importance of preserving, capturing, and communicating the unique values and principles of credit unions. These stories of credit unions helping everyday Americans create better financial futures are truly what makes this industry unique and special."
Suncoast Credit Union"s commitment has placed the Museum"s Legacy Campaign at 75% of its goal, or just over $2.5 million dollars pledged towards the $3.3-million-dollar capital campaign objective.
The Legacy Campaign is a three-year capital campaign which will provide funds for the creation of a new physical and digital credit union industry research center; add additional exhibit space; and provide needed renovations to the existing Museum building.
