Lauren and Claire bowling (2)Plymouth, Mich. (July 25, 2016) Young members, ages 17 and under, of Catholic Vantage Financial like the fact that their youth savings accounts at the credit union come with extra perks. Each summer young members and their parents are invited to a free bowling event. In July, more than 50 people enjoyed free bowling, pizza, prize drawings, and give aways at Woodland Lanes Bowling in Livonia. "Along with helping young members save and budget their money, we want them to have fun and know that the credit union is like an extension of their family," said Emma Teller, CVF vice president of marketing and business development. "We"re here to help them succeed every step of the way." Now through the end of August, kids who visit CVF branches to make a deposit into youth savings accounts are eligible to participate in a "guessing jar" competition. One jar is for kids, ages three to 10 years old, and the other is for youth, ages eleven through 17. Each time they make a deposit, they receive a form to guess the amount of money in the jar. Best guess winners will be announced in September and receive the jars of money. To encourage parents not to wait until school starts to have their children sign up for youth accounts, CVF is depositing the first $5 into all new youth savings accounts that are opened by August 31, 2016. Teller also shared that financial literacy for youth doesn"t stop at 17. On August 3, 2016, CVF will host a College Financial Prep Workshop 101 to help students with budgeting and financial tips for college. This free event, that includes free pizza and pop, will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the credit union"s Plymouth branch, located at 8817 Sheldon Road, at the northwest corner of Sheldon and Joy Roads. To sign up, email memberservice@mycvf.org or call 734-432-0212. Catholic Vantage Financial is considered Michigan"s leading and most well respected Catholic Federal Credit Union. In addition to the credit union"s offices, ATMs and extensive online services, members have access to more than 5,000 shared branches and nearly 30,000 ATMs nationwide. Member deposits are insured to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U.S. government agency.
