San Diego County Credit Union Partners for School Supply Drive

To help homeless children start school with the tools they need, the San Diego County Office of Education and San Diego County Credit Union are partnering on a school-supply drive. Teaming with iHeartMedia partner stations Channel 93.3, JAM"N 95.7 and Star 94.1, they aim to collect thousands of much-needed pencils, pens, binders, crayons, backpacks and more during the second SDCCU Stuff the Bus campaign. Donation bins will be available through Aug. 5 in all 34 SDCCU branch locations, as well as at these sites: ? SDCOE, Room 105, 6401 Linda Vista Road, San Diego.

? North County Regional Educational Center, 255 Pico Ave., San Marcos. ? South County Regional Education Center, 800 National City Blvd., National City. ? City of Chula Vista, 276 Fourth Ave., Chula Vista. ? County of San Diego Housing & Community Development, 780 Bay Blvd., Suite 200, Chula Vista. SDCCU will have two buses touring the county to collect supplies during stops at credit union branches, shopping centers and partner agencies. Homelessness for school-age children can mean living in a shelter, sharing a residence with other families, living in a car or trailer, or sharing a room in an apartment with relatives. Some districts with an especially high number of homeless students are Escondido Union , with 1,684; La Mesa-Spring Valley, 589; National School District, 831; San Diego Unified, 7,588; San Ysidro, 1,900; South Bay Union, 1,614; Sweetwater Union High, 705; and Vista Unified, 4,213.
