Bismarck, ND - This past May, the Credit Union Association of the Dakotas learned of the tragic murder of Jessica Rehfeld, the granddaughter of one of our credit union family members, John Rehfeld. At that time, we asked for financial help to assist the family with expenses for a proper burial. We recently heard back from Teresa Peregrine, CEO of Dacotah FCU, who collected the funds at the credit union for the family. "You made a huge difference," said Peregrine. "The donations we received from credit unions, employees, and the league totaled over $1,000 she added." In addition, the family received donations from other organizations and from a gofundme account, amounting to just under $2,500. There was enough to have Jessica cremated and to pay for the funeral service. Remaining funds were used to purchase a bench in her honor, which is now located in Pine Lawn Cemetery in Rapid City. "John was brought to tears with the amount that was donated, and I would like to personally thank everyone who donated as well, and who sent their thoughts and prayers to John," she concluded.
