Zeal Credit Union Holds Backpack Drive
July 12, 2016
Livonia, MI (July 12, 2016) Partnering with Volunteers of America, Zeal Credit Union is collecting new backpacks, folders, notebooks, pens, scissors, pencils and other supplies that will go to needy students throughout Michigan. Collection boxes are located in the lobbies of each of the credit union"s 11 metro Detroit branch offices.
Friday, August 12, 2016 is the deadline to make donations of new backpacks and new school supplies, which will be distributed through Volunteers of America and its Operation Backpack initiative. Monetary donations are also welcome.
During the drive, Zeal employees look forward to participating in a School Spirit dress-down day to generate more awareness about the drive and raise additional funds.
"This is our eighth annual Backpack Drive, which over the years has helped thousands of needy students be better prepared for the start of school," said Tiffany Sweet, youth and community development coordinator for Zeal Credit Union. "In addition to our youth financial literacy programs, we are dedicated to giving students the tools they need to succeed in school."
More details about the Backpack Drive are available on the credit union"s website at www.ZealCreditUnion.org.
