Alaska Credit Union League Donates $2,500 to Community Food Bank
July 13, 2016
Fairbanks, Alaska The Alaska Credit Union League donated $2,500 to Fairbanks Community Food Bank (FCFB) to support and promote the FCFB"s mission to provide food for hungry people in the Tanana Valley, and to distribute surplus food that would ordinarily be discarded.
"It makes no sense to have wasted food in a community while some children and families go hungry," said Anne Weaver, Executive Director, FCFB. "This donation from the Alaska Credit Union League will help us with the collection and distribution of this food to people who need it."
FCFB also provides emergency food provisions to families during disasters, and assists other organizations in their efforts to teach sharing, volunteerism, recycling, food storage, nutrition, and the negative consequences of hunger on individuals and communities.
