LGEIn a time of continuing economic distress for many families, the LGE Community Outreach Foundation, a 501(c)3 charity, has raised $53,000, and made donations to a number of local charities and families in need. Created in 2009 by employees of LGE Community Credit Union of Marietta, GA, the Foundation is entirely funded through the efforts of LGE employees and volunteers. At LGEs annual celebration breakfast this week, checks were presented by LGE Community Credit Unions President/CEO, Chris Leggett, in the amount of $15,000.00 each to representatives of Calvary Childrens Home, Warehouse of Hope, and MUST Ministries. "These organizations play such a pivotal role in our community because of their missions, and we hope that this check today will enable your organizations to continue to do great things for our neighbors in need," said Leggett. "While this check will impact our organization today, it will be a lasting influence on the lives of the children we serve," said Snyder Turner from Calvary Childrens Home. Stories were shared of people who had been helped by each of the three organizations represented. "When you hear about how people are struggling right here in our own communities, I know it makes me want to do even more in the coming year," said Leggett. As a further commitment to the obligation of helping those in need, LGE Community Credit Union had pledged to match funds raised by the LGE Foundation in 2012 up to $25,000. With the match from LGE, the Foundation was able to donate $53,000. The money is divided up between three organizations voted on by employees at LGE Community Credit Union. The organizations must demonstrate their ability to provide the basic necessities of life food, shelter, and clothing and other vital services within a county served by the credit union (Cobb, Paulding, Cherokee or Fulton). In addition to the donations to the three charities listed above, remaining funds were distributed to 15 other charities and families in need.
