Credit Union Conference Helping to Spread Financial Literacy

CaptureThe financial IQs of more than 35,000 students in Washington will soon improve thanks to a financial education give-back event held Sunday at the America"s Credit Union Conference in Seattle.�The National Credit Union Foundation, Northwest Credit Union Association, and the Northwest Credit Union Foundation held a financial education best practices workshop for area K-12 educators that conference attendees directed. Nearly 30 teachers attended the event, which offered practical strategies and revealing insights to help the educators improve their students" financial acumen. Organizers estimated that 35,532 students will benefit from their teachers" improved knowledge. �Attendees received a BizKid$ Starter Kit, which includes a suggested curriculum, training tips, a DVD, and moreall tailored to the national JumpStart standards. �"We want to equip teachers with the tools to teach financial literacy," says Jamie Hammond, executive producer for the award-winning BizKid$.
