Holy Rosay Credit Union Awards 11 College Scholarships

2016_scholarships_highresRochester, NH On June 20th, Holy Rosary Credit Union (HRCU) awarded 11 local high school graduates with college scholarships. The recipients are graduates of five local schools. "This class of graduates is talented, bright and very active in their communities, and we are pleased to support the continuation of their education," said HRCU Chairman of the Board, Dana Flanders. This year, HRCU celebrated the 20th anniversary of their Annual Scholarship Program, which started in 1996. To date, HRCU has awarded at total of $186,350 to local students for continuing education expenses. "We know all too well the challenges that families face when paying for a college education," said HRCU President & CEO, Brian Hughes. "We are happy to be able to provide support to several outstanding students in our community as they take the next step in their lives." The HRCU Scholarship Committee awarded a total of $8,750 in scholarships this year to students. Two types of scholarships were awarded. The first type is based on academic accomplishments, community engagement and financial need, and is open to any HRCU member headed to college. The second group of scholarships awarded went to 2015 Spaulding High School graduates who successfully complete HRCU"s learning certificate program, The Banking Professional, with a final grade of "A". The curriculum includes academic courses as well as work experience as tellers within HRCU"s on-campus branch at Spalding High School in Rochester, NH.
