Alaska USA has donated $5,000 to sponsor five high school students to attend Washington Business Week. The $5,000 sponsorship will give high school students the opportunity to experience a simulated career environment, where they"ll learn business, teambuilding, leadership, and life skills. From June to August, students attend one of four week-long business camps at universities across the state, staying on campus, living in dorms, and experiencing a college environment. Students participate in small teams, called "companies," and complete challenges with real-life business scenarios that include production, marketing, finance competitions and product development. At the end of each week, Alaska USA employees and other business community members serve as judges, evaluating company pitches and investing mock Business Week dollars in the companies. This is the sixth year Alaska USA has participated in judging Business Week events. For more information on Washington Business Week and its summer programs, visit wbw.org.
