SECU Supports March of Dimes March for Babies by Raising Over $56,000

RALEIGH, NC (June 20, 2016) State Employees" Credit Union (SECU) staff recently joined thousands of passionate advocates working to improve the health of babies through their participation in the Triangle area"s March of Dimes March for Babies��event.� Several hundred SECU branch and operations employees generously donated their time and talent to organizing fundraisers, raising individual donations and walking the 3-mile hike in Morrisville with family and friends.� In the end, over $56,000 was collected to aid lifesaving research and educational programs to help end premature birth and birth defects. Credit Union teams from around the state also took part in other regional March for Babies events, adding several thousand dollars more to SECU"s cumulative support for March of Dimes in 2016.
The North Carolina Chapter of March of Dimes reports that every year, more than half a million babies are born too soon in the United States over 16,000 of them in North Carolina.� With the help of volunteers, partners and donors like SECU Teams, communities are working together to assist the non-profit"s mission of providing essential services that work to give babies a strong, healthy future.
"It"s because of partners like State Employees" Credit Union that we"re able to continue the fight for the day no baby is born too soon or too sick," remarks Catherine Heindselman, March of Dimes Executive Director-Eastern North Carolina.� "The more than $56,000 raised by Team SECU this year will go towards research and programs all aimed at making sure every baby is given a fighting chance.� We thank SECU staff for helping move the mission of March of Dimes forward in North Carolina."
