Hanscom FCU Raises $8,465 for Relay for Life

Hanscom AFB, Mass. (June 20, 2016)��Hanscom FCU"s Burlington Relay for Life team raised $8,465 to battle cancer and help those living with the disease. The team total includes a match from Hanscom FCU. Additionally, the credit union sponsored the event at the Bronze level with a $1,000 donation.
HFCU for a Cure fielded a 17-member team for the event held at Burlington High School. Throughout the year, the group hosts fundraisers and receives pledges from co-workers, family and friends.
Hanscom FCU assembled its first team in 1999 at the Ayer, MA Relay for Life.� "When we started, we walked in honor of an employee lost to cancer," explained Chairman of the Board Paul Marotta. "Now, we stand with, frankly, too many others who bravely face this terrible disease."
Team captain Sandy Imbrogna, a member of the Relay planning committee, said, "Even before the event began, our team had tremendous support. People invested their hearts and energy in the fight against cancer." Team members held bake sales, helped set up the Relay event and made sure activities ran smoothly. "My teammates got into the spirit and made this year"s event memorable for all," Imbrogna stated.
