SFFCU kindra-terry-redlinSioux Falls, June 8, 2016: As our local school districts face increasing budget constraints, teaching children and providing them with the tools necessary to learn becomes more challenging each year. As not-for-profit cooperatives, credit unions have a long history of promoting consumer education particularly financial literacy. That is why Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union has created the Adopt-A-Classroom grant program. The credit union has awarded three grants in the 2016-2017 school year for projects that include a student financial literacy component. Grants of $500 have been awarded directly to teachers to provide them with some of the resources necessary to implement creative ways to increase financial literacy among their students. "It's important to give students in our communities the tools and guidance they need to become financially responsible adults. We are excited to be able to offer this program to help our teachers offer these kinds of programs in their classrooms" said Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union President/CEO Fran Sommerfeld. Congratulations to our 2016-2017 winners: Jill Kriz-Hurley, Terry Redlin Elementary Kindra Schneider, Terry Redlin Elementary Amanda Geraets, St. Mary's Catholic School Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1934 and currently serves anyone who lives or works in Minnehaha, Lincoln, McCook and Turner counties of South Dakota.
