Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union Awards $10,000 in Scholarships

MoneyStrong Scholarship Winners LOWELL – Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union was honored to award $10,000 in college scholarship to members who were either incoming or current college students through its MoneyStrong College Scholarship Program. The winners of the 16 th annual scholarship program were asked to respond to the question, “Why is it important to budget your money, and how will a budget help you while you’re in college? The Credit Union received essays from 80 applicants and 17 of those students were chosen as recipients of the scholarship award to help fund their education costs. Of the winners, fourteen are high school seniors gearing up for their freshman year and three are currently attending various colleges in the area. The students were recognized at a recent reception at Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s Corporate headquarters. The high school students each received $500 and the current college students were each awarded $1,000. “College expenses have risen dramatically in recent years and they continue to rise as time goes on. We are happy to assist local hard-working students in meeting the overwhelming costs of higher education,” said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. The MoneyStrong scholarship winners include: Jacob Huggins, Keene State College; Kelly Hardy, Rivier University; Katelyn Leboeuf, Salem State University; Elizabeth Bennett from Academy of Notre Dame, Ohio University; Alyssa Kiernicki from Acton-Boxborough, University of Maryland, College Park; Caitlin Petros from Dracut High School, UMass Boston; Ryan Leboeuf from Dracut High School, Springfield College; Olivia Durkin from Dracut High School, Worcester State University; Michaela Fawcett from Dracut High School, Westfield State University; Abigail Cutrumbes from Dracut High School, Boston University; Jayleen Aleman from Lowell High School, Middlesex Community College; Erin Dixon from Lowell High School, Boston University; Paige Paquette from Lowell High School Middlesex Community College; Joanne Kanellos from Lowell High School, University of Massachusetts Lowell; Alyson J. Riley from Tyngsborough High School, University of Massachusetts Boston; Stephen Kordash from Tyngsborough High School, University of Massachusetts Amherst; and Allyson Tompkins from Tyngsborough High School, Stonehill College. Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union also awarded $4,500.00 in employee college scholarships. Recipients of the $1,000.00 scholarships are Emma Gosselin, Worcester State University; Justin St. Louis, University of Massachusetts Lowell and Hannah McDonald, Endicott College. Recipients of $500.00 scholarships are: Alexandra Coppola, University of Massachusetts Lowell; Devon Drohan, University of North Carolina - Greensboro and Gabriella Molinar, University of Massachusetts Lowell.
