MECU of Baltimore, is sponsoring the newest Millionaire's Club experience at Green Street Academy charter school in Baltimore City. The students at Green Street Academy now have a new, interactive resource for developing their personal financial skills while enjoying competitions with other students locally, statewide, and across the nation.

"The Millionaire's Club teaches students how to manage their personal finances, giving valuable lessons that can be used throughout life. At the end of the day, we want students to learn what it takes to have financial freedom while building wealth yet avoid costly pitfalls. It's a natural extension to our services as Baltimore's credit union and reinforces our commitment to financial education in the communities we serve."
The Millionaire's Club is a complete financial skills experience developed by the Credit Union Foundation MD|DC and is designed for delivery at the high school level. Clubs are provided seed grants, detailed 26-lesson curriculum, and faculty/student materials at no charge. Clubs are also provided with entry into national competitions such as The Stock Market Game™ and The Personal Finance Challenge™. Additional support materials add a fun, competitive edge to the Club's activities.
Other Millionaire's Clubs have produced State and National Personal Finance Challenge champions as well as first-place Stock Market Game™ competitors.
Credit union sponsors serve as guest speakers on topics such as identity theft, selecting a financial institution, credit, lending, etc. while the core curriculum, developed by the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), is delivered by professional educators either in class or after school. Green Street Academy's Melvin Bond will serve as the Club's primary faculty adviser.
Club members elect their own leadership, actively engage in the program, and conduct an annual entrepreneurial project that allows Club members to put into practice their new financial skills while ensuring the Club's future.
Launched in 2012 by the Credit Union Foundation MD|DC, the Millionaire's Club concept has caught the attention of educators and credit union sponsors alike in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Howard, Montgomery, Somerset, and Prince George's Counties and Baltimore City. With over 1,500 individual student participants in twenty-five Millionaire's Clubs, there's still room for expansion.
