May 31, 2016
Huron, SD - M-O Federal Credit Union hosted a "Free Shred Event" at the end of April. A total of 3,943 pounds of paper were collected! Members were lined up before the start of the event eager to securely dispose of their confidential documents. M-O FCU staff met members at their vehicles with large bins which they dumped their documents into. The bins were then wheeled to the shred truck where it was lifted up by the cart lifter and dumped into the shred unit inside the truck. Once documents were inside the shred truck, members could watch their documents being shredded on a screen that showed images from an inboard camera.
Not only were members confidential documents securely disposed of, but Dakota Data Shred takes the shredded paper and recycles it into other products. This is done by putting the shredded documents into a pulping mill, bleaching it to remove any ink, and preparing it to be made into recycled products, such as tissue paper and paper towels.
M-O Federal Credit Union is located in Huron, SD and serves Federal and Postal Employees and their families.
