CaptureAUSTIN, Texas (May 25, 2016) United Heritage Credit Union recently held three Austin-Area Member Appreciation events on April 16, April 17 and May 7, 2016. More than 1,600 members and their guests attended the events at the United Heritage Conference Center at the Dell Diamond baseball stadium in Round Rock, Texas. Credit Union members and guests were treated to a baseball game played by the Round Rock Express, the Triple-A affiliate of the major league Texas Rangers. Members and guests also enjoyed hamburgers, hotdogs, ice cream and cookies; appearances by Beaker, the UHCU Eagle; face painters and balloon artists; and a chance to win one of 75 valuable prizes. Credit Union members Kendall Bertram and Richard Dietz threw out the first pitches at the April 16 and May 7 events, respectively. While the April 17 game was eventually canceled due to inclement weather, the Member Appreciation event went on with much success. "We host family-friendly Member Appreciation events each year and, for the second year in a row, chose to offer three evenings. Expanding to three evenings allowed more Credit Union members to participate and gave staff a unique opportunity to engage with an even greater number of members on a personal level," United Heritage CEO Buddy Schroeder said. Both new and long-term Credit Union members of all ages were able to attend the events. Tickets for each event cost $5.00 per person. All proceeds from the ticket sales benefitted the United Heritage Charity Foundation, a nonprofit that supports projects and organizations in the local community. Since its inception in 2003, the Foundation has distributed more than $1.3 million to worthy causes. The United Heritage Community Scholarship Committee presented Austin-area high school seniors Eliza Cain and Zachary Ray each with a $5,000 scholarship at the 2016 Member Appreciation events. The two were selected based on their outstanding community service, extracurricular activities, academic performance and demonstrated commitment to the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People." Drawing prizes at each Member Appreciation event included an Xbox, GoPro, Fitbit, Beats headphones, Dell Diamond Intel Club tickets and a variety of gift cards worth up to $100. The week after the final Austin-Area Member Appreciation event, United Heritage Credit Union hosted a free Member Appreciation Carnival for several hundred Tyler members and their guests. The celebration included a bounce house and dunk tank; a prize wheel; face painting; visits with Beaker, the UHCU Eagle; giveaways; and live music from The Brooze Brothers.
