CaptureGreat Falls, MT - On Saturday, April 23, 1st Liberty FCU held its first ever free community shred event, opening up its parking lot to the community of Great Falls and offered free document shredding. Credit union staff assisted community members with safely disposing of over 2 tons of personal documents. In return, the community donated over 200 pounds of food to the Great Falls Food Bank. The credit union received a great response -- including a postcard from a thankful person who called the event "a great service for the community." Plans are afoot to hold another shred event next year if not sooner. Increasing awareness of the threat of identity theft and giving people a great way to protect themselves is a wonderful example of living the credit union philosophy of people helping people while providing exceptional service.
