BHFCU CAT Project1Black Hills FCU Employees Contribute to Local Non-Profits Rapid City, S.D. (05/10/16) Black Hills Federal Credit Union employees raised almost $1,000 and collected more than 120 items and 15 bags of clothes for area domestic violence centers during their annual donation drive this April. The annual drive benefits centers in Eagle Butte, Custer, Spearfish and Rapid City every April as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. It is coordinated with a larger awareness campaign organized by Working Against Violence, Inc., a non-profit, domestic violence and sexual assault resource center in Rapid City. "These centers provide vital resources and services to women and children in precarious situations," said Laura Lytle, chair of the Community Action Team Project. "Our support goes a long way in helping to ensure these centers can continue to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Western South Dakota." Employees also raised over $500 for the March of Dimes, over $1,040 for animal shelters in Rapid City, Hot Springs and Spearfish, and $1,500 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills, as well as donated 1,331 books to the South Dakota Department of Health as part of the annual Readiatrics Books Drive this April. BHFCUs employee-led Community Action Team provides support for community projects, charities and events throughout the year through various fundraising and volunteer efforts.
