Veridian Credit Union Hosts Free Community Shred Day

Waterloo, Iowa (May 16, 2016): Veridian Credit Union drew record attendance and a record amount of private documents to its free Community Shred Day on Saturday, May 14. �Mobile shred trucks from On-Site Information Destruction Inc. were stationed at five branches across the state in Ankeny, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Waterloo and West Des Moines. An estimated 2,578 people attended to shred a total of 64,442 pounds of private documents. The shredded material will be recycled into commercial grade paper products, saving an estimated 805 trees.
"Shredding private, unwanted documents is an easy and important way to help protect your identity," said Mark Koppedryer, Veridians vice president of branches. "We host regular Community Shred Days to give everyone a reminder and an opportunity to take this precaution."
Veridian started hosting an annual Community Shred Day in October 2009, and expanded the event to semi-annually in 2014. Now offered every spring and fall, Saturday brought the credit unions highest spring attendance for the event. The next Community Shred Day is scheduled for October 8.
